The Soaring Spirits Resilience Center at Schreiner University is a first of its kind center focused on the study of resilience in widowed men and women. The Soaring Spirits Resilience Center utilizes the research conducted with the help of the Soaring Spirits community to create hands-on, practical tools to assist widowed men and women as they create a life of meaning and purpose after the death of a spouse or partner.
We are doing ground-breaking work and are super excited to share the news of the 2017 ceremony for founding the center on the Schreiner campus, updates on the Soaring Spirits Widowed Resilience Scale and a glimpse of our five-year plan to hold the first ever International Academic Conference on Widowhood on the Schreiner University campus in 2023!
Join Soaring Spirits Executive Director, Michele Neff Hernandez, and Soaring Spirits Director of Research, Dr. Carrie West to learn what’s new and what’s next for the amazing research work being done at the Soaring Spirits Resilience Center at Schreiner University.
Soaring Spirits welcomes return campers to Camp Widow® each and every year. We love that 40% of the campers at each event are return campers! Over the years our alumni have told us that they’d like the option to spend more social time with the friends they’ve made over the years, and they’d also like to learn more about the leadership of Soaring Spirits. When you ask, we listen!
This is our 2018 Alumni Track for Camp Widow West®. If you have attended at least two camps in the past, you are welcome to attend any of the alumni track workshops, and the alumni off-site (there is an additional charge for this outing), in addition to any of the regular workshops in which you’d like to participate. The alumni track is designed to provide you with some options for additional social time, as well as the opportunity to lend your opinions and ideas to the work we do in the widowed community. Thank you for being a part of our Camp Widow® family!
